Hi JH, thanks for the info. Maybe we're related, since my Deanes also came from Taunton. I know about my maternal Great Grandfather, Arthur Woodward Deane, born July 2, 1880, in Stoughton (was Avon in 1880, I'm told), and his wife, Minnie Dearth Deane and her family, and just recently found out that Arthur's father was John B. Deane b. 1839, Taunton, and his wife was Mary E. Dunbar, born Dec 1844, So. Abington, MA.I do not know who John B's parents were, but assume they must have come from Taunton, also.
Do you have the ancestry on your Arthur Warren Deane? I have recently contributed my all-in-one family tree to the World Family Tree, but do not yet know what the Vol.# is.
It consists of about 3,400 names and many Mayflower ancestors - Hopkins, Doty, Sherman, as well as Clapp, Deane, Dearth, Snow, Nickerson, Smith, etc. etc. ---LV
