Hi Diane Firstly,as an aside, we remember seeing a removal van bearing the Deards Logo in the late 60's/ early 70's. We think the address was in Finchley(London).Seems likely there could be a family connection with Fred Deards? Here's some of my husband's family history:- His Grandfather's name was Charles Thomas Deards(d.o.b.not known) who married an Elizabeth Eleanor(nee Cooper). He was a "journeyman" carpenter who died in 1945 and is buried in Wandsworth Cemetery. They had 8 children-not as previously stated,5,-3 sons & 5 daughters. They all lived in the London area. The daughters lived in Cheyne Walk,Chelsea at one time, possibly in Service. Their dates of birth, apart from my husband's Father(1903) are unknown, but their names were as follows:- 1. Arthur Thomas(known as Jack). Married Josephine Catherine(nee Campbell on 3rd July 1937, & had 4 children, two boys and two girls, all still living. 2.James Henry married Violet, had 3 children,Murray,Barbara & Peter. 3.Ada,died 27/09/30,aged 22 years. 4.Florence,married Richard Taylor, had one child,Joan. 5.Eleanor(known as Jessie). No details known. 6.Katherine(known as Kate).Spinster,no offspring. 7.Bessie(Elizabeth)Lillian(known as Cissie),married a Robert Waters, one son,John. 8. William married to Winifred, 2 children, David & Gillian. Does any of this help, please? We moved from London to South Wales in 1973, and have 2 grown-up children.
