Anyone familiar with Ida Deaver, who married Wesley Lawton? She was probably born in the 1870s.
I just located a 1956 book called "More Than Conquerors" by Genevieve Greer about variouus missionaries and Ida had a chapter about her.Ida attended Millersville State Normal School.(I believe this is now Millersville University in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.)She was at the school in 1896.The book mentions she was the daughter of Dr J.A. Deaver. (Millersville, see http://www.rootsweb.com/~pacahs/millersv.htmhttp://www.rootsweb.com/~pacahs/millersv.htm)
Apparently, Ida became a missionary to China for a number of years. She came back to the states in 1911 during the Chinese Revolution and lived in SC for a year before returning to China.Eventually, they came back and lived in NC where Wesley was asked to preach at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Ridgecrest (possibly Buncombe or Stanly County).Wesley died later that week in 1943.The book does not mention Ida dying, so I assume she was still alive in 1956.
Since the surgeon John Blair Deaver was from Lancaster County, PA, I assume Ida is from his line.Anyone know for sure?
