Here are the records that I have assigned to this line. Not sure I have assigned everything correctly. From microfiche of Smyth Co VA marriages: David J. Debord age 19 s/o Theophilus Debord and Sarah Phillips marr Sarah Hopkins age 16 d/o Anderson Hopkins and Nancy Wheeler on 30 Aug 1855 in Smyth Co VA. I believe this is the same family that shows in the 1860 census for Hawkins Co TN as: D. S. Debord age 30, Sallie age 27, Charles age 3 and Nancy age 1 (note the ages are all wrong if this is the same family) From notes I recieved from Dorothy Knierim several years ago: Sarah Hopkins was sister of Catherine Hopkins that marr David W. Debord. David Debord was buried in Lee Valley in cemetery on "Mr. Brown's place" where his brother John's child was buried. Sally moved back to Smyth after David's death. Not sure where I got this: David died 13 April 1861 in Hawkins Co TN.I have serious doubts about this date.
Then the 1870 census for Smyth VA has Nancy Hopkins age 60 b VA, Martha Hopkins age 18, Anderson W. Hopkins age 18, Amanda Gertman age 25, Rachelle A. Debord age 8 b TN, Riley Debord age 5 b VA, John C. Debord age 3 b VA I'm fairly certain that Nancy Hopkins was Sarah's mother and widow of the Anderson Hopkins that shows in the 1850 census for Smyth. Her chilren were Martha (really about 21 in 1870), Anderson W. and Amanda Gertman, probably also a widow.I believe Rachelle A., Riley and John C. were her grandchidlren and children of David J. and Sarah Hopkins Debord. The 1870 census for Gayson VA has Charles Debord age 13 b VA and Polly Hopkins age 88 listed with Elizabeth (age 54) and Francis Inglesby (age 53 b Ireland).I believe Charles Debord is also a son of David J. and Sarah Hopkins Debord. Not sure how Polly Hopkins in related, maybe great grandmother; and not sure how or if the Inglesby's are related.
