I know this is an old post, but I am very interested in sharing info on this family.
Delilah Baker is listed in family 1263 of the 1860 Ashe NC census Helton PO as age 37 b NC with "sons" Ambrose age 15, James age 5 and Robert age 4 months.Wm Debord age 34 and his family are listed next door in family 1262
I believe Wm Debord married Delilah (Baker) maiden name unknown after 1860 and moved to VA.The 1870 census for Yokum Station in Lee Co Va shows William Deboard age 44 b Ashe Co NC and presumed wife Delila C. age 43 b Ashe Co NC.The 1870 census includes some to the Debord children from the 1860 Ashe census and also show James W. or M. (Deboard) age 10 b Asheand Robert A. (Deboard) age 8 b Ashe. I believe James and Robert in this census are probably the Baker children in the 1860 Ashe census.
Then the 1880 Grayson VA census for Wilson Creek shows Lelah C. De Boordor De Board age 45 b NC divorced listed with sons Robert S. or E. De Board age 20 b NC and James W. or M. De Board age 22 b NC.I show Lelah De Board listed as a separate family but in the same household as Willima H. Mink age 41 b VA.Three of the Debord children are listed next door in family 175 in the household ofJames? Perkins.William Deboard age 56 b NC is listed in the 1880 census for Turkey Cove in Lee Co VA as father in law with Harvey D. Wilson.
I believe this is the same Wm Debord age 56 resident of Lee Co Va that married Fannie Campbell in 1882 in Smyth Co VA.
I don't know what happened to Wm and Delilah after 1882, but I believe theFannie Deboardb 1852 listed as a sister in law in the 1900 Grayson VA census, Wilson Creek is the widow of Wm Debord , even though she is listed in that census as "single"
I also believe, but no real proof as yet, that the James Baker born abt 1855 took the name of Deboard and married Amelia "Millie" Francis shortly after the 1880 census. Both James Deboard age 79 and his wife Millie age 69 show in the 1930 census for Grayson VA, Wilson district.
Anybody, have any further info to support or refute my theories?
