One other thing.Maryland was established as a Catholic colony.But almost from the beginning, Protestants outnumbered Catholics and most of those came for economic reasons.I do not know what religion the Dedmans were.But eventually the rising numbers of Protestants resulted in the Maryland colonial legislature protecting their right to follow their Catholic faith by passing the Toleration Act granting religious freedom to all people believing in Jesus Christ.The Toleration Act passed in England several years later was based on this Maryland legislation.
