Genealogical record of the Ernst Family from 1775 to 1936
In the compilation of this record nothing but authentic matter and dates are used.This matter and the dates being taken from the Family Bibles, and from the records in the County Court House at Bedford, Pa.The first Court House was built in 1773 and the present one in 1828.
The Ernst Family was originally from Saxony, and Adam Ernst's father was born there at, date unknown, and emigrated to Virginia about the year 1740 and the authentic records are as follows:
Adam Ernst and Eve (Dibert) Ernst came to Bedford Township from Virginia in the spring of 1775.
Third generation, lineage of Adam Ernst
George Adam Ernst (son of Adam) married Elizabeth Samuel, daughter of Conrad Samuel.Conrad Samuel married Eve (Dibert) Ernst after her return from 9 years of captivity by the Indians,at the beginning of which her former husband was killed by the Indians.Eve was later known as "Indian Eve"(perhaps that is why some think she was American Indian)

Johannes Ernst, son of George Adam Ernst, married Catherine Fetter who was then 14 years of age

Michael Ernst, son of Johannas and Catherine Ernst, married Hester Ling.
Sixth generation, lineage of Michael and Hester Ernst: Maria Ernst,marPhilip Beegle Catherine Ernst, mar Francis shunk Defibaugh, 2-2-1871 and died 4-7-1907 Mary Ernst mar Franklin Pierce Gilchrist Anna Ernst mar George Blackburn Alexander Ernst mar Emma Koontz Alexander was killed in a railroad accident 7-3-1883
