Greetings,
My family history runs aground each time it approaches the DeGraffenreids. It's a long story but, perhaps some of you have encountered it before. One Thomas DeGraffenreid (NewBern) insists upon taking on the name of the NewBern settlement and discarding the DeGraffenreid name.He is reported to be the half brother of Christopher. It would be really comforting to solve the mystery of the connection between the "Newberns" and the DeGraffenreids. Is there a connection or is this claim to the hierarchy some delusion of grandeur?
