Regarding the marriage of Sarah de Graffenried, daughter of Tscharner and Mary (Baker) de Graffenried, as the second wife of Nicholas Hobson Jr.:

“21.Sarah de Graffenried. Born in Aug 1755 in Lunenburg County, VA. Died after 1811 in GA or AL. Married Nicholas Hobson, son of Nicholas Hobson Sr. & Agnes Goode, 1779 in Lunenburg Co., VA. Born 1745 in VA. Died 1809 in Jackson County, GA.

"Nicholas Hobson was commissioned 1st Lt., 6th Virginia Regiment, Continental Forces on 16 February 1776. He was promoted to Capt. on 19 June 1776. He served under Gen. Washington in the Northern Campaigns. Nicholas resigned his commission on 23 September 1777. On 19 June 1809 he received a 4,000 acre grant of land in Greene County, AL for his six years service in the Continental Army. Source: 'Army and Navy Bounty Land Warrants, Revolutionary War.'...
"Nicholas Hobson was appointed guardian of his children by Sarah his second wife, John, Matthew, Tscharner, Nicholas, Baker, Christopher, Francis, Allen and Agnes Goode Hobson, to receive their share of the estate of their grandfather, Tscharner de Graffenried. Lunenburg Co., VA Deed Bk. 18, page 154. This document proves Nicholas' first two children William and Jane (Jennie) were not the children of Sarah (de Graffenried) Hobson.

“Allen de Graffenried, his brother Christopher (Kit) moved from their father’s home in Lunenburg Co., VA to Chester District, S.C. to be with their half-brother William Embry.
“Allen married Sarah Thomas, daughter of Colonel James Thomas & Susannah Mabry. Born on 2 Sep 1777. Sarah died in Chester, SC, on 3 Jan 1858; she was 80.
