Hi...I have an obit. on Cooper Degraw that I found in the family bible. He was the brother of my GGG Grandmother, Ann Mary Degraw. It reads: "The death of Cooper DeGraw occurred Sunday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carried Foster, 21 Benton Ave., in Middletown.Mr. DeGraw had been in poor health for the past year, having suffered a stroke of paralysis.Mr. DeGraw was born at Greenwood Lake, December 24, 1833, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John DeGraw. He was united in marriage with Charlotte C. Finch, at Sloatsburg, Nov. 19, 1857.She died in Middletown in 1914. For 48 years Mr. DeGraw was a resident of Middletown, being the first one to serve on the police force of the then small village, in which capacity he acted for seven years. For 25 years he was engaged in conducting meat markets in that city and six years served as one of the coroners of the county, discharging the duties of that office at the time Mrs. Noah Gregory was murdered by Fred McGuire, and conducting the inquest in the case.He was a Republican in politics. The surviving members of the family are three children, Thomas F. DeGraw, of Matamoras, Pa.; Mrs. Carrie Foster, of Middletown, and Fred B. Degraw, of New York; two brothers and one sister, John F. and Thomas, of Middletown, and Mrs. Stephen Mars, of Florida, this county."
