Frances Deighton/Dighton m. Richard Williams
One of the best-known Deightons is Frances, who married Richard Williams 1606-1692/3 the "Father of Taunton" (Mass.)Frances, also known as "Dighton," is a well-documented "Gateway Ancestor" through whom one can prove descent from Charlemagne, the barons who forced King John Lackland to accept Magna Carta, etc.Dighton, MA is named for her family, as is a Maine chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Frances's son Nathaniel Williams 1639-1692 married Elizabeth Rogers, grand-daughter of Thomas Rogers of the Mayflower.Their second great-grand-daughter Phebe Williams 1740-1775 m. Seth Wade 1632-1808 in Taunton, MA in 1758.
I hope to establish descent from Frances Deighton by proving that Seth Wade/Waid, born Middleborough, MA abt. 1764 (and verifiably my third g-g'father) was a son of Phebe Williams and Capt. Amos Wade.Rather than repeat a long, detailed post here, anyone with an inkling is asked to refer to Post #33 on the "Dighton" site with further particulars. Thank you.
