Hi, I have a collateral family of DELEHANTYs (several spelling variants used) who came from Thurloss, Tipperary to Queens, NYC, ca. 1850.
John Delahanty b. abt 1794, immigrated, first to Newtown and then to Astoria, Long Island City, NY.I think John died in Astoria during the mid 1870s. His wife was Mary Burke, also from Tipp. The family had a plot at Brinkerhoff (aka Black Stump) cemetery in Flushing.
I know of 7 children, all born in Ireland Bridget Flanagan(1830-1907) James (1831-1873), Dennis (1831-1869) was father of William H., who was alderman and chief of the LIC fire dept. during the 1890s Michael (1834-1888)was a prominent Queens justice Thomas (1836-18??), John (1839-1895)
