My 2nd great-grandfather Antoine Delaunay(?) (aka Delonie Delonay & Delonoy) was b. 1810; birthplace unknown, but assumed to be Quebec. By 1831 he was in Mackinac Co. MI, where he married Harriet Gifford. The had only 2 children that I know of: Elizabeth b. 1833, and my great-grandfather, Antoine (aka Delonoy, Delonais, Delanory, Delaunais, Dolinis, Delannay, Donet, Dellone, Doaner, Donor,DONER) b. 1835.
I have no way of knowing whether my Antoine Jr.followed a ‘naming pattern’ for his children, but if so, I’m looking for a family which includes these names:Marie Harriet, Elizabeth Cecile, Antoine Edward, Zoe Matilda, Alfred William, Rose Lucy, John Oliver, and Charles.
Notice that Antoine Sr. always spelled his name with 3 syllables: Delonie Delonay & Delonoy. It was Antoine Jr. who used such variations as Donais etc., eventually settling on 'Doner'.
If it seems there could be a connection to your family, PLEASE contact me. Thank you so much.
