My grandmother, Mary Denomme, was born in Huron County, Ontario about 1887, descended from (according to my initial info) one Claude DeLaunay, b.1631 in Picardy, France, who emigrated to New France in 1666. His son Bernard (b.1673) m. Marie Bedallac, etc. The family became known as Delome, Denomme, Denomy... I recently got a copy of Claude's Fichier Origine showing him as Claude DELAUMAY / DELAUMEL / DENOMME, born 30 May 1627, Abbeville, St-Jean-de-Rouvray, Somme, son of Simon Delaumel and Jeanne Celier; arr. in New France: 1666; married Denise Leclerc 9 Jan 1669 at Ile d'Orleans. On a Denomme website, for the first 3 generations here the name appears as de Lomel, Delone, Delomay, Delome. And in the Canadian census 1901, I found most of my grandmother's family listed under 'Denoumie' and 'Denomie'.
