BOSSIER CITY, LA - Memorial Services for Harvey P. DeLaune will be 4:00 P.M. Friday October 2, 2009 at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. David Dietzel, Senior Pastor, First United Methodist Church of Bossier City officiating. The family will receive friends at Hill Crest Funeral Home starting at 2:00 P.M. Friday until service time.
Mr. DeLaune was born November 26, 1923 in Hope Villa, Louisiana to parents Nettie Ellen (Yarbrough) and Johnston Scott DeLaune and passed away September 30, 2009 at his home in Bossier City. He was a U .S. Marine combat veteran of Bougainville, Guadalcanal, and Guam in WWII. He earned his Juris Doctorate Law Degree in 1950 at LSU Law School and was recalled to military duty and served in the Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean and Viet Nam wars. Mr DeLaune retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U. S. Air Force in 1968. He was appointed Law Judge of General Court Martial in 1955 and served until retirement in 1968. Mr. DeLaune was admitted to the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States in 1959, was Assistant District Attorney for Bossier and Webster parishes from 1974-1977, served as City attorney, and attorney for Bossier General Hospital from 1977 until 1983. He was Past Prersident of Bossier Bar Association and Senior Partner in DeLaune and Delaune. Mr. DeLaune was a charter member and was instrumental in forming the VFW Johnny Welsh Memorial Post #5951.
Mr. DeLaune was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Aileen Ada Moore Delaune, son, Wade Johnston DeLaune, great grandson, Victor DeLaune Bankert, sister, Cannie Strickland, brothers, Herbert DeLaune Johnston DeLaune. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Sherwin DeLaune, son Jeffrey Scott DeLaune and wife Linda all of Bossier City, daughter, Claudine DeLaune Blondeau and husband "Chip" of Baton Rouge, LA, two sister, Joyce Harris and Inez DeLaune Markwick, two brothers, James DeLaune and Howard DeLaune, five grandchildren, Barret Blondeau, Alison Blondeau, Sarah Bankert, Preston DeLaune, and Elizabeth DeLaune, and three great grandchildren, Austin Bankert, Carter Bankert, and Madeline DeLaune.
The family requests memorial contribution be made to First United Methodist Church of Bossier City or Christ The King Catholic Church.
