I'm hoping there's a DeLoach ancestor who can help me locate my great-grandfather, John Isom Peterson (b. 1/23/1883). His parents were Lyntia (Lent) Daniels (b.1850 - 1892 dau. of William and Mary Daniels of Statenville) and a person known as K. Peterson. Lyntia died when John was nine years old and K. took him to live with Lyntia's sister, Sally Daniels DeLoach, wife of Henry DeLoach (b. 1827 Tattnall). I don't know how long this arrangment existed nor if K. ever returned for his son. There's also a possibility that John's siblings, Mary and Walter also lived with the DeLoach family. Unfortunately the 1900 GA census doesn't show these DeLoachs for some reason, although they were in Georgia at the time. It's my hope that a descendant of the family may know something of John and his stay with his kin that will illuminate this part of his life and perhaps even reveal something on the identity of John's father. There is a large Peterson clan in Echols, but there's seemingly no connection to my family. Perhaps someone can solve a longstanding mystery?
