I am looking for information on the descendants of the James DeLoach, b. December 25, 1844 in Georgia, the son ofRiley DeLoach and Dory (or Dora) Ann Mathis.I believe he is the one who appears in the 1870 census of Valdosta,Lowndes County, GA (page 174, recorded August 19, 1870) as head of the following household:
James DeLoach, 25, farming, b. GA
Betty DeLoach, 20, keeping house, b. GA
Georgiana DeLoach, 2, b. GA
Edmond DeLoach, 1, b. GA
... and again in the 1880 census of Cat Creek, Lowndes County, GA (National Archives Film T9-0156, p. 279):
Name, Relation to head of household, Sex, Marr, Race, Age, Birthplace, Occupation, Father b.p., Mother b.p.
James DeLoach, Self, M, M, W, 35, GA, Farmer, GA, GA
Fannie DeLoach, Wife, F, M, W, 25, GA, Keeps House, SC, SC
Georgia DeLoach, Dau, F, S, W, 12, GA, Laborer, GA, GA
Eddie T. DeLoach, Son, M, S, W, 10, GA, Laborer, GA, GA

Vera DeLoach, Dau, F, S, W, 10, GA, At Home, GA, GA
Eddie Smith, Step son, M, S, W, 6, GA, At Home, GA, GA
... and again in the 1900 census of the 1314th Military District, Berrien County, GA:
James DeLoach, head, white, male, b. December 1844, age 55, married 20 years, b. GA, father b. GA, mother b. GA, farmer
Fannie DeLoach, wife, white, female,b. September 1865, age 44, married 20 years, 6 children, 5 still living, b. SC, father b. SC, mother b. SC
Laura DeLoach, daughter, white, female, b. March 1872[sic], age 18, single, b. GA, father b. GA, mother b. SC
Elizabeth DeLoach, daughter, white, female, b. March 1874[sic], age 16, single, b. GA, father b. GA, mother b. SC
James M. DeLoach, son, white, male, b. May 1890, age 10, single, b. GA, father b. GA, mother b. SC, farm laborer
Jesse G. DeLoach, son, white, male, b. May 1893, age 7, single, b. GA, father b. GA, mother b. SC
These data may indicate that Fannie had been married previously to a Mr. Smith born in GA (or her maiden name was Smith), Eddie Smith is her son, James had been married before to Betty, and Georgiana (or Georgia) and Eddie T. (or Edmond) are children of that prior marriage.William R. and Vera DeLoach may be the children of the same first marriage, or of an intermediate marriage.
Any further leads will be greatly appreciated.
