DRACUT -- Donato "Don" J. DiRocco, 80, died Friday afternoon, April 23rd, 2010, at his home, after a long illness; a respected member of the Dracut community, beloved husband of the late Josephine "Josie" (Schiripo) DiRocco and a member of a large Dracut family,
He was born August 31st, 1929, the youngest of ten children born to the late Donato John DiRocco, Sr., and Donata (DeLuca) DiRocco, both born in Italy.
He married Josie in 1950, raised a family and resided at the same home in Dracut all of his life. He was educated in Dracut Schools.
He was retired from Fletcher's Quarry in Westford where he worked as a Crane Operator for over 40 years.
He is survived by three children, a daughter and son-in-law, Judith and John Dyer; a daughter, Joyce Brace, and a son, Donato "Don" J. DiRocco III and his fiancée, Linda Runyan; three grandsons, Timothy Brace, Justin Brace, and Marc DiRocco, all of Dracut.
He is also survived by two loving sisters and friends, Edna Gorski of Lowell, and Sara Konomick, formerly of Dracut, and now of Lowell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. DiRocco was the brother of the late Mary Moreno, Tony DiRocco, Herman DiRocco, Peter DiRocco, Joe DiRocco, Edith Thamer, and Dominic DiRocco.
DiROCCO -- Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Tuesday from 4 until 8 PM. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:45 AM followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9 AM at St. Francis Church in Dracut. Interment in Oakland Cemetery in Dracut. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Dracut Food Pantry, 1934 Lakeview Ave., Dracut, MA 01826.
