I Molly Demeret of Richmond County & State of Virginia do hereby make my last Will & Testament in manner and form following that is to say.
1stI Give my Negro boy Edmund, to my Grand Son Napoleon B Hammock & his heirs, but if said Nepoleon B. Hammock should die before he shall marry, or arrive at the age of twenty one years, then the said boy Edmund to be given to my Grand daughter Augusta M Hammock & her heirs.
2dly.I Give my negro Girl Elisa & her future increase to my Grand Daughter Augusta M. Hammock & her herirs but in Case the said Augusta M Hammock shall die before she marry's or arrives at the age of twenty one years, then the said negro Girl Eliza & her future increase to be Given to said Nopoleon B. Hammock & his heirs.
3rdly.I leave my negro woman Phillis & her future increase to be equally divided between the above named Napoleon B. & Augusta M. Hammock & their heirs but in case that either of them should die before he or she marries or arrives at the age of twenty one years, then the said woman Phillis & her future increase to be Given to the surviving one or to his or her heirs.It is my will & desire that if both the above named Nopoleon B. & Augusta M. Hammock should die without Lawful heirs of their body, the said boy Edmund, the said Girl Eliza & woman Phillis, with their increase, be divided among & Given to any Child or children which my daughter, Winfred S. Hammock, may hereafter have by her present husband John W. Hammock, or by any future husband.
And Lastly.I leave my stock of hogs & Cattle & my house hold & kitchen furniture with all other property of what kind & nature soever of which I may die possessed, to be equally divided in kind between the before named Nopoleon B Hammock & Augusta M. Hammock or their heirs.It is however my wish that the said stock of hogs & Cattle & furniture be not taken out of the possession of John W. Hammock or my daughter Winefred S. Hammock during the natural life of my said Daughter but that at her death there be made an equal division of the same, with the increase thereof Between the said Nopoleon B. & Augusta M Hammock.In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seale this 23rd day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & twenty three. -

At a Court of Monthly Sessions holden for Richmond County at the Court House on Monday the 6th day of December 1824 This paper writing purpoting to be the last will and Testament of Molly Demeritt deceased was this day proved in Court without a Subscribing witness thereto.Whereupon Richard Durrett, a Witness called upon by the Court and sworn deposed that the aforesaid paper writing was written by him, and the said Molly Demeritt acknowledged as and for her last will and testament but not subscribed in his presence.It was thereupon considered by the Court that the said paper writing be recorded as the last will and Testament of the said Molly Demeritt. -
