Of the dozens of Denbos in my family tree, according to handwritten notes on family pages, most of them eventually left Indiana for Oklahoma Indian Territory in the late 1800's and first few years of 1900. My understanding of Indian Territory in those days is that you had to either be of Native American blood or be married or adopted by the tribe and you were allotted a parcel of land. Whites were rarely, if ever, allowed to buy land on a Reservation in Oklahoma. We've always suspected we had Cherokee blood, my next step is to check the Indian rolls for the time to see if my Denbo relatives (the same as you have listed on this message site) are listed there and I'll let you know what I find. Let me know if you have aleady done that.
