In the year of 1737 Jacob Dengler emigrated to America, coming from Germany, probably Wittenberg. His brother Andreas, who soon followed him, died in America, unmarried. Jacob Dengler settled near Amityville, Berks Co. He is buried at the Swamp Church
Henry Dengler, the progenitor of the Denglers in Oley twp, Berks Co, a grandson of Jacob, was born Oct. 3, 1792. He married Sarah Guldin, a lineal descendant of Rev. Samuel Guldin, who emigrated to America from Switzerland in 1710. Henry Dengler moved from Amity to Friedensburg, now Oley, in 1829. Member of the First Reformed Ch. at Friendensburg. He died March 19, 1860 and his wife Sarah died Oct 30, 1883 aged 76y 7m and 25 days. Children; Henry G., John G., James G., Harriet married John C. Nipe and lived in Phila., George of Clarion county, Washington enlisted in the Civil war, was captured at Richmond, he was taken to Andersonville and died there of starvation, May 6, 1864, Jacob married Sarah M. Diehl, doed eb 1905 age 71, Mary Anna, married isaac Vansickle, Wiiiam G., Susanna G., Daniel G., and Louisa G.
