There's yet another history tid-bit on Denman:It was given out at Ellis Island, as German land-owners came to America at the turn of the century, and were asked their name, they would reply, "I'm denn Mann!"(meaning "I'm the Man") and the clerk would say, ok, you're Denman, and stamp the paper.
So it would not be the original surname of the person/people coming to America.
Has anyone heard that one before?
