There were a bunch of DePuy families living in Rochester, Ulster County during the 1600s, 1700s, and 1800s.The first DePuy arrived in New Amsterdam in the 1660s.Within 20 years, he had moved up the Hudson to Ulster Co.A Cornelius DePuy, b. 1790, was my g.g.grandfather.He married Abigail K. Hunt in 1810.They had a son Cornelius Jr. born abt. 1829 in Ulster County.Abt. 1837 this family of DePuys moved to Knox Co., Ohio. If, indeed, your Cornelius was b. abt. 1835, then he was of a different family there, but, a very close relative. They were all closely related. My g.g.grandfather Cornelius DePuy's father was Moses D. (Robinson) DePuy.Moses was a soldier in the Revolutionary War.Iwill try toI.D. your Cornelius to see which family he might have belonged to.I have the address of an organization there that has about 6 - 7 books on DePuys, but vol. 4 has the most info. from what I have been told.Much is on the internet.
