One other thing I have found.I think I found them in the 1900 Census.Louisiana - Rapids - Lamourie - District 26 page 49 The family is listed as Lesito (probably the way it sounded to the census worker) but we have a weird issue. Pierre - Head - age 37 Mary - Wife - age 19 (born in 1880) Leontine - Dau - age 16 Clovis - Son - age 15 Abel - Son - age 9 Ella - Dau - age 7 Darmacile - Dau - age 4 William - son - age 2
The census in 1900 asked how many years you were married and they responded 1.So a couple of thoughts. First - Perhaps these are Mary's kids and her age is wrong. Second - there are Pierre's kids and he married Mary after his first wife died or left.(seems likely) Third - Mary is actually the oldest of all the kids listed and their parents are both dead and when Mary married Pierre all the kids came with her and she became the "mother" (most likely)all the kids born after William would be the children of Pierre & Mary.It would most helpful to find a marriage license between these 2 and see about the maiden name of Mary and if it really is Carmouche.
This makes even more sense when you look in the 1910 census and there are 9 children listed but Mary only responds to 5 children born to her.
Because we don't have the 1890 census we can't try to locate Pierre there.
