did a little detective work and conclude that this plaque actually came from my parents' estate. i know of one reason why the dealer didn't show a scan - imho the crest is completely spurious or, more kindly, highly speculative, with a big old english D in the corner and all.
of course, the question as to whether someone has the right to claim a given crest is, at least for Americans, moot, but that won't stop me from asking whether anyone has located any such crests, hopefully based on more rigorous scholarship than the company that came up with the one my mother bought 20 years ago. the only one that i've found for someone named deur was described in riestap's "armorial general (1884)." anybody else have one that they've uncovered?
while on the subject of deur history, does anyone have any information on adam deur from hessen darmstad germany (father of georg, grandfather of another georg, great grandfather of jan, etc. - down to eventually me) and his ancestors in europe?
