Very interesting but totally false from an historical point of view. There is NO evidence linking Robert de Vere (ANY of the several Roberts de Vere) with the Robin Hood of legend. I've been working on the de Vere family history for over 25 years and this is the first I've ever heard about that identification.A good friend, Sir James C. Holt, wrote a book investigating the historicity of Robin Hood and did not run across this supposed connection either.
Now, the de Vere family did exist and their surname became associated with the ultimate in "blue bloodedness" so that some 19th-century author used the name for an aristocratic snob Lady Vere de Vere. There were 20 de Vere earls of Oxford from 1141 to 1703, making it one of the longest lasting aristocratic lineages among the titled nobility of England.
