I've been purusing these forums on a semi-regular basis lately in hopes of finding something to show how my paternal lineage fits into the apperantly large and sktchy history of the Deville family.
I have death records, and census reports to cover most of the last 4 or so generations of my family. From what can be remembered orally; my father is Roland Deville, his father was Afe Deville (Abe Deville according to the census, large descrepency), his father was Willis Deville, and his father was Hezikia Deville.
In none of the census records are any of these names with the spelling "De Ville". I know that my family has been fairly stationary in the central Louisiana area, around Ville Plat, Bunkie, and Alexandria.
Afe Deville was married to Veda Ellis and had three children: Roland, Ronnie, and Barbra.
Willis Deville was married to Clements B.(only the initial is written) and had two children: Afe and a daughter -- whos name is illegiable on the census records. Possiably Allu or Allie. This is also mention of some Burton Deville on his certificate of death -- which refers to him as "Willie"
Hezikia Deville was Married to Ivy M.(maiden name unknown, looks like "Mouland") and had two children: Willis and Virignia.
This is just about all the information I have on them. The census reports seem to state that Hezikia was illiterate and that he and his son Willis helped build levys and railroads as well as doing some maisonry work.
If anyone knows a tie to any of these people please let me know.
