the names tend to go through the generations - a Patrick Quigg was the father of Helen Quigg who married Dennis Devlin in Greencok Scotland.Helen Quigg was born in 1811.They were the parents of John Devlin (b around 1832).I think they were also the parents of Daniel Devlin (see below) and Thomas devlin (who married Sarah and they had twins b 1862 - Helen and Jane) and Peter Devlin ( who married may - with at least one child called Helen b 1871)
John Devlin married twice - his first marriage was to Mary McArthur in 1859 - I don't know all their children but there could be a John Devlin and Patrick Devlin. He married again in 1870 to Catherine McLachlan (I think Mary died but I can't find a record or her death) and they had 8 or more children but none called John or Partick which makes me think there was another John and Patrick probably with Mary (they ahd 3 children who died in infancy - Mary, Dennis and Dennis again).
This could be the wrong family line for you but the name Patrick would have been used as a childs name by John Devlin, and I suspect as part of his children with Mary McArthur.
Daniel Devlin - the brother of Dennis who married Helen Quigg (i'm guessing they were brothers) married Catherine McGill and they had at least one son called Daniel Devlin (born around 1823 in Ireland and buried in c Donegal in 1857).This Daniel (the son) married Mary Gallacher and they had Catherine (b 1851) , Dennis (b 1959), Mary (b 1863) and Daniel (b 1867). They lived in Greenock, Scotland.
I know some of the family emigarated to the US but am just trying to figure out who, when etcPart of the line is Via the McKillops whowent to Mass. The daughter or John devlin (b aroud 1832) Catherine (b 1874 I think) married a McKillop around 1912 and they moved to the States.
Hope this isn't a wild goose chase for you but you never know.My mum is related to the same John Devlin who married Mary and then Catherine McLachlan.
if you have any info it owuld be rally helpful to try and figure this out. Nicola
