Adrienne, have any male Devlin relatives in your John Devlin line had their DNA tested? I have been researching my ancestors William Devlin and Mary Lovin who came from Co. Tyrone to Halton Co., Ontario, and I have just gotten a male Devlin cousin to test his Y-DNA. There was already 16 other Devlins that had tested through Family Tree DNA, and were scattered in different clan surname groups, but no Devlin surname group. So, I started one up. http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/devlin/http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/devlin/ The Y-DNA test results will be posted on the Y-results page, and members pedigrees will be posted on the Patriarch page. Since my cousin joined and ordered his test kit, another Devlin has joined and ordered a test kit. I am inviting the other 16 Devlins that are already in the project to join our Devlin surname group. Two have done so already. The testing is done by Family Tree DNA, http://www.familytreedna.com/http://www.familytreedna.com/ and they are running a sale right now. A Y-DNA 37 marker test can be purchased for $119.00US through a surname group. You can order a kit, and pay for it by credit card, on-line. The kit is mailed to the residence, a cheek swab is taken, and then the kit is mailed back to the lab. DNA testing has become a great genealogy tool to help connect family members and expand family genealogies.
