Bill, Thanks for your reply. Barnesmoor Gap was a pass or main road into Donegal. A garrison of soldiers was needed to protect travelers from highwaymen and marauders. It is located near the Inishowen. I, too, have discovered many Devlins in Clonmany but have yet to make any connections with individuals related to Clonmany Devlins. I would assume this is where my gr-gr-gr grandfather was from. The information fits. My gr-grandmother was Inez Belle Devlin and her father was Edward Devlin. My gr-gr-gr grandfather, Cornelius (or Connell), had a long red handlebar mustache, was an inveterate smoker, drank whiskey, was a very hardworking farmer, and lived to be 114 years old. He was one of the oldest living individuals in New York State (I have his obit). His mother, Katherine, lived to be 117 years old. Thanks for your help!
