Have only recently discovered this branch of the tree due to illegitimacy/hidden adoption. It obviously went downhill before that though, because Elizabeth was transported to Australia in 1818 for 'larceny'. She features in the book 'Notorious Strumpets and Dangerous Girls' which is about convict women sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) between 1803 & 1829.It would be nice to be able to say that one bad apple doesn't doesn't spoil the whole tree, but my tree is loaded with bad buggers, lol. Elizabeth was born to William Dewsnap and Mary Bampton at Sheffield in 1797. I noted that a lot of the Dewsnap's come from Derby but am unfamiliar with UK geography so have no idea if this is close to Yorkshire.Does anyone have Elizabeth or William in their tree?
