Apparently we are infrequent users of GenForum. I was just there and found your 2005 reply to my 2001 post. J
Among other things you wrote in 2005 the following: The 1871 Census shows the family still living in Brightside Bierlow, Sheffield - the widowed mother Elizabeth, with three children still at home- George 1850-1895 (a pen blade whetter), John Samuel (a spring knife manager), and Samuel b1852(also a pen knife whetter). John S. eventually married Mary Fowler( daughter of Hannah Fowler) and had children John E. Dewsnap, Mary E. Dewsnap, Lmefred V. Dewsnap and Alice E. Dewsnap, and they lived in Derbyshire.
John S(amuel) Dewsnap (25Oct1846 – 14Jan1915) didn’t marry Hannah Fowler, he married Mary Bennett (27Oct 1849 – 4Mar1928) They were married in Jan 1872. Hannah Fowler was Mary Bennett’s mother (info from Roger Dewsnap).
John and Mary had the following children (all b. Sheffield): Evaline Frances (15Jan1873 - 5Feb1960 Portland, OR) Percy Royden (27Oct 1874 - ?died in infancy) Frederick William (3 Mar 1876 - ?died in infancy) Edith Ann (3Nov1877 – 24Oct1942) Mary Emily (30Sep 1879 – 13Oct1960) Ruby (Apr1882 - ? died in infancy/maybe stillborn?) Gerald Edgar (13Aug1883 – 5Jun1889) Alice Edna (4Oct1888 – 12May1968 Napa, Calif.) John Edward (21Mar1890 – 22Feb1956) Winifred Vere (19Dec1892 – 24Aug1947 Albany, NY)
