Carleene, Three days ago I learned that one of my 3rd great grandmothers was a Dickensheets. Yesterday I now have 4th and 5th great grandparents thanks to wonderful people like yourself who have searched and learned so much. I was wondering what else is known. I read in a posting about the line going back to a Christopher. Here's what I now know. 3rd great grandfater Henry Belt (1814-1864 Indiana) married Matilda Jane Dickensheets (1821-?) *Their daughter --only child I have so far -- married my mother's grandfather James Calloway. Matilda dau. of William Dickensheets (23 jan 1793 Frederick co., Maryland- 1873/4 Miami co. Ohio) and Marian Drake (20 jun 1790 New Jersey- 1844 Greene co. Ohio). They had 9 children (8 lived past infant) Henry Dickensheets (1815-1851) md. Annnet Ramsey. Nancy (1817-1859) md. Whitford Belt. Mary Ann (1819-1833) *Matilda Jane (1821-?) my direct line Harriett (1823-?) md. Jacob W. Richards Mariam L. (1826-1884) md. Robert B. Anderson Amanda Jane (1830-1915) md. John B. Weller Joseph (1831-1977)
William's parents were John Dickensheets and Margaret Worman. I don't have any dates or places on his siblings or parents and beyond. William married twice after Marian Drake. With his second wife Mary (Nancy)Cox, I'm told they had a son Joseph who died young. No other children were listed.
I am willing to fill in descendants of Matilda Jane Dickensheets and Henry Belt if someone is complining the descendancy of the complete family. Thank you, Liz
