I have not found an 1840 census for this family in either Jackson, Alabama or Tennessee, both Wm. H and James A. were born in Tennessee according to later census records.

George had three older half-brothers who were already married by this census, they were Jason H., William H., and James Anderson . George R. is only eight years old, and his three older brothers are enlisting in the Civil War, they went back to Tennessee to do that. As you can see George is 61 years old when his youngest child is born.
