Karlene - I enjoyed reading about your family on the Dinerstein Forum. Have you seen their records from the 1900 census? The record is indexed under Manuel Dinnerstein, but when I looked at the actual census sheet, the name was Mandel, not Manuel. It is definitely your family from Springfield.
My grandmother was also a Dinerstein from Minsk. I don't have a lot of information going back, but my great-grandfather was Yaacov Dinerstein from Minsk. 5 of his 7 or 8 children came to America, and lived in lower Manhattan, then later in the Bronx. I'll be happy to share my info with you. PErhaps there is a connection. He never came to America, but he had at least one brother that I know of who came here, in 1888. He was Harris Dinnerstein. My grandmother and her brothers spelled their name Denerstein, but my grandmother came thru Ellis Island as Gitel Dinerstein from Minsk.
