Seeking My US & Dublin Irish Connections

By genealogy.com user February 23, 1999 at 10:18:04

I am intersted in tracing my family's Irish genealogy. I am second generation Irish-American.My father was James Edward Dingle. He was born in the Village of New Yoirk City between 1906 and 1908.He was the youngest of 12 siblings, 6 of whom were born in NYC and the older 6 who were born in Ireland, possibly in or near Dublin. His father was a laborer in NYC and died of blood poisoning from a construction accident NYC when my father was about 12 (so the time was about the late teens of the 1900s or early 1920s.I learned from my father that he had an Uncle Chrisopher Dingle who he saw during W. W. II when my father traveled to Dublin on behalf of the War Department. My father was in charge of all maritime shipping between the States and Britain during the war.Uncle Christopher supposedly had been Post Master General of Dublin in the 1920s (and later?).

I am trying to locate my father's family both here in the States, Canada (where my father said that he had cousins) and in Ireland. My father was married to Elizabeth Kearns of Orange, NJ.Like my father, she was first generation Irish-American. I think that her father came from Roscommon, Ireland. She died in the mid-1970s in Red Bank, NJ.My father died in the early 1980s in Red Bank, NJ.
