Thank you for the possible lead. my wife and I have not had any luck in tracking down her great-grandfather's birth place. We only know his wife's name and that his son, Patrick (her grandfather), was born near Dublin, Ireland, just to the north of the city. however, as I have mentioned in previous messages, I've noticed that many Dingles seemed to have origianted from the Cornwall area. we just haven't been able to find any link between her Irish Dingles and Dingles in the Cornwall area. As you poiunted out, the Peter Dingle that you identified is about one generation too early. However, if you can learn if he had a son, Peter, also, then it might be a lead to be persued. Although, that Peter would have had to have emigrated to Ireland in the 1800's. we'd welcome any assistance that your research might provide.
Out of curiosity and if you don't mind my asking, where do you reside? Marybeth & I live in Monmouth Beach, NJ which is on the Atlantic coastline of Central NJ south of Sandy hook which is at the southern entrance to NY harbor and the Hudson River.
