I wasn't sure whether or not to start a new thread seeing as your post regarding Thomas Dingle was put on the forum so long ago but anyway here goes ...if you don't see it perhaps someone else who can help might .
Before i start , Marty if you are reading this i e-mailed you yesterday about what i thought was my problem but today received a disc listing all births in Stoke Climsland from 1735 - 1840 and now i'm more confused than i was when i wrote to you !
If by the way i can look up any births for anyone with an interest in any families in Stoke Climsland i'd be more than happy to .
Onto my problem , my great great grandmother was Jane Dingle born abt 1829 in Stoke Climsland . i ordered a copy of her marriage certificate and on there her father is listed as John Dingle ( Farmer ) ..All ok ...so i start looking up the early census returns for Stoke Climsland and i found Jane aged 11 living with Marianne aged 38 and another Marianne aged 14 in the 1841 census . I could find no listing of a man in the house and Marianne senior was listed as Head .
I started to search for John first in Stoke Climsland and found one aged 39 ( in 1841 )..living with his wife Joanna and their family so then i started to look countrywide to see if any John Dingle's with the right kind of age came up . I found one other John Dingle who was born in Stoke Climsland and he was living in St Germans aged 62(in 1861 ) with his wife Rebecca . I was left then thinking that really either of these two John Dingles could be Jane's father .
I stumbled upon the Dingle Forum here and was really pleased to see posts from others with the Stoke Climsland connections ( hence i then wrote to Marty who'd posted quite a bit here , in an attempt to try and clarify things ).
Then today arrives my CD with the Stoke Climsland births and i was hoping i might be able to clear things up myself ....i should have known better . It appears from this CD ( which has been copied straight from the cornwall records office )that Jane ( born 1829 and the only Jane to be born within 7 or 8 years of 1829 ) wasn't born to John at all but to Thomas and Marianne ...it also shows the birth of the Marianne born 1826 to Thomas and Marianne ( Jane's sister obviously ) , that would tie in with the census. Still not feeling completely foiled i looked up Thomas only to find two baptised within two years of each other , one born to Richard and Elizabeth and the other born to Thomas and Mary nee Rundle.....ok so now i'm foiled . Which Thomas is the one i'm looking for and how on earth does Jane's father Thomas become John upon her wedding day ?? Did Thomas die perhaps and Marianne re-married ?
Please , if either you or anyone else might know i'd be extremely grateful .
