One confused dingle descendant and wondering if anyone might be able to help .
I've sent a similar post to this in the replies section of the Stoke Climsland Dingles here but the thread finished last year so am wondering if a fresh post is better , anyway sorry for any repetition .
I'm looking for a Thomas Dingle ( born i think in Stoke Climsland , the family seems to be firmly rooted there ) at the start of the 1800's . He married a Mary Ann (or Marianne ) Philp in 1825 in Stoke Climsland and they had two children that i know of ...Mary Ann and Jane both born between 1826 and 1829 . Jane is my great great grandmother .
I've found the births of two Thomas Dingles born within two years of each other , one in 1800 and one in 1802 and have since found some conflicting records .
I Can't find the Thomas i'm looking for in any census records and i know there was a Thomas Dingle who died in Stoke Climsland in 1836 aged 36 , this could be "my Thomas" in which case his birth either isn't showing on the Stoke Climsland baptism CD i have or the Thomas who died was a different Thomas again.
There were other Thomas Dingles there around the same age because there are still at least two Thomas Dingles going strong in 1841 - 1861 etc with Stoke Climsland births but none of them married to or living with Mary Ann .
Thomas is the father of my g g grandmother , that much i did find on the CD . Mary Ann is still listed as married in 1861 ( no sign of a spouse in residence in any census )and still using the surname of Dingle so if "my" Thomas did die in 1836 and Mary Ann re-married i don't understand why she would still be using the surname Dingle .
Just to add a bit more confusion to this when Jane ( my g g grandmother ) married in 1859 , it listed her father as John ( wonderfully helpful ).
Anyway , what i'm wondering is ......does anyone know anything at all please about this lineage ? I've written to the parish clerk but she's temporarily unavailable .
I would really appreciate any info anyone might have .
