There seems to have been only one Catholic Fink family in the area served by Conewago Chapel. That was the family of Conrad Fink and his wife Catherine. Conrad's daughter Catharine was married to John Shorb who moved from Hanover. Pa. to Frederick Co. Md. near Emmittsburg. She died in 1837 and is buried in the old St. Anthony Cemetery at Mt. St. Mary's College.
I have no wife for Anthony Ditto in my records and I do not remember ever having seen one.
Jacob's brother-in-law, John Fink was married to Maria Sneeringer.
So by default it seems as if Catharine is a Sneeringer but how either she or Maria Sneeringer fit into the Sneeringer line is something I have not figured out. They are not named in the wills of John Sneeringer in 1804 nor that of his wife Julyanna in 1813. Nor are they mentioned in the will of Lawrence who also died in 1813. According to Conewago Chapel burial records both of these men were in their late 70's when they died. There are stories in the Conewago Chapel area, that at least one of a Joseph Sneeringer's daughters moved west.Sneeringer is not a family that I have worked on a lot.
The early Catholic families of Conewago are so intermarried and the spellings are sometimes so strange that untangleing these relationships is like untangeling a plate of spaghetti. Just when I think I have it figured out I sometimes find out I don't. Please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
