Dear Daniel, Thank very much for your email. I found the family tree that you were speaking of, sadly it is not mine. Perhaps you and I share an early ancestor. According to my father's memory (who remembers very well three of his great-uncles) and to his first cousin who has researched the family records, this is my verifiable ancestry:
Hasten Dockery b 1810 NC Married Rebecca Rich b.Randolph Co. NC, on Aug 11, 1826.The following are their children:
1. Elizabeth Dockery b. 1830 NC 2. Fielding E.b.1833 NC 3. Rachael C.b. 1835 NC 4. Rebecca M.b.1838 NC ("Irish Twins" or 5. Abraham W.b.1838 NCbiological ??) 6. Louisab.1844 NC
My line descends through Abraham W. Dockery b. 1838 NC who married Sarah (Sally) Lawson b. May 13, 1845 VA. They married Sept 30, 1858. Since Abraham didn't die until Oct. 22, 1922 in Scott County, Va and Sarah didn't die until April 28, 1915; my father's (who is 81) much older sisters knew their great-grandparents) My father was born only 8 months after Abraham had died. So this is real family history to me.
Here's where the difference is between the two bloodlines coming from Abraham and Sarah Dockery: Their children don't match. So there has to have been TWO Abrahams and Sarahs. MY gg-grandparents gave birth to the following children:
1.James Monroe "Roe" Dockery b.1859 Scott County, VA 2 Asberry "Berry"b.1862 VA 3. Margaretb. 1864 VA 4.Felenb. 1866 VA 5.Jamesb. 1871 VA 6.Andrewb. 1872 VA 7.Irab. 1873 VA 8.Henry Clay "Coon"b. 1875 VA 9.Franklinb. 1876 VA 10.Melville E.b. 1879 VA 11.Laura Annieb. 1881 VA 12.Rebeccab. 1882 VA 13.Rileyb. 1887 VA
I am descended through James Monroe Dockery b. 1859 VA d. 1933 VA Married Alwilda Gibson b. 1869 on Jan 2, 1887. (My father remembers his grandparents well) The following are the names of their children:
My line descends through Worley Dockery (my grandfather) through my dad, Worley W. Dockery, Jr.Those same sisters of my father's told us that they were Scotch Irish. I want to find the factual ancestors of Hasten Dockery until I sure who was the "real-life no-doubt" first one to leave Ireland for America. Someone there is waiting for the name that takes my line back to the first man of my blood to be given the surname of Dockery.
Should you know any of my ancestors as your own, please let me know.
