First--you may want to check my answers to other Dodgen queries. I give the details of THE book on the Dodgens--THE DODGEN STORY by Mary Dodgen Few.Page 251 gives a picture of the marriage license of Albert T. Dodgen and Avarilla Whatley--November 4, 1871 in Troup County Georgia. Page 249 lists their children including a William F. Dodgen (F looks a lot like T) who married Lizzie Suddeth. Page 249 gives Albert's family. His middle name was Toland. His father Preston Leroy Dodgen, Mother--Nancy Dean who were married January 27, 1846 in Chambers County, Alabama--where the first five of their seven children were born.
Obviously you need a copy of the book. You can find it at your library through Interlibrary loan--or buy it from The Reprint Company (see my other responses for the address) or I would be pleased to send you a copy ($40). I ordered 10 copies when I found out the book is in reprint.
All DODGEN families are descendants of a William Dodgen who died in Virginia in the mid 1700's. Your grandmother's family is decended from one son and my husband's line is from the second son so we are very distant cousins.
THE DODGEN STORY is a great book--which tells the whole story.
