Hi Deborah - This is also excting for me as I have never known an "Ireland" family member and such an unusual name Algy Gregson Dodgson.Algy must be a 10th cousin - so not "really" related (but I think he his) - I can go in to his relation to the Ireland family in much more detail if you would like to know.
I have been doing family research for quite a few years now, born in the north of England in 1956, my maiden name was Scrogham.
More about Algy - I suscribe to "Find My Past" and that is how I found out about Algy - I think that he might have been quite a character - not in a good way maybe - to have Harry and then leave Mary to go to Australia must have been awful for Mary.
Firstly he departed London to Sydney, Australia 23 Aug 1895, on the ship "Oruba" Secondly he departed London to Albany (Aust) 7 Jan 1898
His place of Enlistment was Rosebery, NSW Joined on 14 Sep 1914 in the 13th Battalion Service No. 724 WW1 File B2455 Changed his name to John Dodgson on enlistment
Embarkation Roll Rank: Private 22 Dec 1914 HMAT Ulysses
I do not know who Algy was but to go into battle at 40 odd years old and especially for Australia which is where I live now is so moving -I find that all my family research leaves me in tears.
