Did you ever locate this Raymond Doe?I found at the Carroll County probate office that he walked out of his house in Mass. in 1920, & was never seen again by his family. There was some form of contact in Sept. 1923, but nothing after that.(20 years old, 5'11", 170 lbs, a corporal in the U. S. Army according to the notices posted.)His sister, Madeleine Towle, petitioned the court late in 1949 to declare him deceased in order that family property could be sold, so he was officially presumed dead as of 1950.Conceivably he could have survived, perhaps using a different name, and for whatever reason abandoning his birth family? There was a Raymond E. Doe in California that matches the birth year, but not the date. He was showing up in the CA census in 1910 & 1920 when our NH Raymond was showing up in the Eaton & MA censuses, so I'm not convinced that's our guy.Would love to hear if you have found more info.
