The will of George Doggett who married Ann Chattin, and who died 1758-59 in Culpeper Co. VA, names Sarah Ann Rynnolds (Reynolds) as a daughter. Later Culpeper Co. VA deeds (1770) show a Richard Reynolds and Sarah Anne, his wife, deeding land to an Alexander McDonald.
I have in my line a Richard Reynolds who died in Wilkes Co. GA possibly in 1787; in 1793, Thomas Reynolds became administrator of this estate, unadministered by Sarah Ann Reynolds, sole exec., dec'd. Could this be Sarah Ann Doggett? Some research says her maiden name was Hamilton, but I have never seen anything proving this.
Humphrey Scroggin, who married Margaret Doggett, is also on Wilkes Co. GA tax lists of this time period, as is Chatten Doggett. It is possible these families were briefly in Pittsylvania-Henry Cos. VA on their way to Georgia...I believe Miller Doggett is on the 1778 Henry Co. VA tax list. Some of these Reynolds migrated to Western KY by 1807 or so, and descendants include a Joseph Chatten Reynolds who settled in Muhlenberg Co. KY.
Anyone who knows about these early Culpeper Co. VA connections to Reynolds - would love to hear from you, and try to figure out if this Richard Reynolds' wife was indeed Sarah Ann Doggett.
