Benjamin & others, Lancaster Co., VA; 1721
I have a book "Landholders & Landholdings," Christ Church Parish, Lancanster Co., VA.There is a little information on this family:
"Benjamin Doggett, 150 acres, acquired this land through his marriage to Ann, the daughter of early owner John Emberson who died in 1721....Their marriage is assumed because no deed was found, but a son of Benjuamin's was named Emberson Doggett (Will of Anne Dogett, widow WB 16:177."This land seems to have been just north of Kilmarnock.
These 435 acres which seems to have been on the other side of John Creek from Merry Point on the Corrotoman."Two sons, William and Thomas, and a grandson, James Doggett, are listed as owners of parcels within the acreage that had been passed down through the family.Another son, Benjamin, relocated into (an area north of Kilmarnock) before 1750."
I thought this information was interesting because I knew a family of this name in Montgomery County Maryland in the 1950s.
