Hi Hilton, not sure if I can help you a lot. As you will see from my previous post, my connection to Elizabeth (Woodman) Doidge is through my aunt's husband, and I have not explored that branch very fully. I do know that Elizabeth was baptised 4 Mar 1832, d/o Richard and Martha/Matty (Cole) Woodman, who married 22 Feb 1816 in Milton Abbot. It would appear that Richard was baptised 17 Jul 1791 in Milton Abbot, s/o Joseph and Elizabeth (Head) Woodman. I have deduced this from secondary sources so it may be subject to error, but Richard and Matty's first son was named Joseph.
Although I have Doidges in my direct ancestral line, I guess you will have already discovered that it is a common name in West Devon, and the practice of using a small pool of forenames makes it very difficult to identify with any confidence any particular individual or family grouping. I can trace back to a William Doidge b c 1760/3 in Thrushelton, but have come across no earlier Williams in my line.
