I have just received a note from "Bryan" who did a look up on Thomas Donlan for Civil War records. He found Thomas Dolan who was mustered in Watertown Mass. where my ancestors lived. "According to the Record of Massachusetts Volunteers (1861-1865) Page 690 2nd Reg. Cavalry Co. I Dolan,Thomas Age: 30 Bounty: 325.00 Residence or Place Credited to:Watertown Date of Muster:Aug. 10 '64 Termination of Service and cause Therof: June 13 '65 expiration of service
Bryan added, "The name is listed as spelled with only one n. Which if you say it with a bit of an Irish accent you will not hear the first 'n'.Which I am guessing is what happened."
