I am Robin Russell Daub, a 55 y/o male seeking more information just as we all are. When I saw this posting, I had to respond.
My father was Robert Russell Daub, and his father, Henry Casper Daub & wife, Katherine Biehl (my Grandparents) told stories about his father, John Daub, and that he came from Germany. He always explained that "Daub" was also spelled "Daup" or "Doup", which he said, means "dove" in German?I haven't had this confirmed but it is interesting that he told us that the spelling was indeed changed in some cases. When the German immigrants came through Immigration and Naturalization, some families spelled their name differently, he explained. This corresponds with what others here have said.
I am looking for an old Bible which has the family tree recorded within its pages. My father remembed looking at it as a child. I'm not sure which relative got it when Grandfather, Henry Casper Daub, died in 1968.This Bible, if it still exists, has much more information to offer. I will quickly post any further findings if I do locate it.
