The name Dougherty appears in the Isle of Man from 1600s, and I have good reason to believe it to be my husband and children's line, although I have not studied it in detail, yet.(A genealogist I know has already done the line, as a favour for someone many years ago, but never kept a copy - she confirms I am on the right track.)
Spelling of the name is irrelavent.
My line disappears from IOM for 1861 census. Is there anyone in the north-west of England or Scotland 'doing' Dougherty (any spelling) who could look up some names for me in the 1861 census, please?
The subjects tide-waiter, customs, agriculture, fisheries have been suggested.
